Kelp is seaweed, also known as Bladderwrack, used traditionally as a rich source of Iodine.
Kelp may be of benefit in the natural management of obesity, thyroid problems and, in combination, for goitre. The daily dose should not exceed 150mcg of Iodine. The consumption of seaweed, in general, is associated with lower cancer rates.
Kelp raises the metabolic rate by increasing hormone production by the thyroid gland and it is thus beneficial in cases of underactive thyroid function and related lethargy and weight gain. Other reported uses: arthritis, colorectal cancer.
