Description: Certified Organic Bark Cut of Alder Frangula (syn. Frangula Alnus), Rhamnus frangula.
Traditional Use: The tea (decoction) of Frangula has a mild laxative effect and it is cheifly used for in chronic constipation.
Mode of Action: Alder buckthorn is known to contain certain chemicals that work as laxatives. Alder buckthorn seems to work about as well as cascara for relieving constipation.
Possible Side Effects: Frangula bark may produce tummy pain, spasm and liquid stools, especially in patients with irritable
colon. These side effects may occur due to over-dosage.
Contraindications: Products containing Frangula bark are not recommended in the presence of intestinal blockage, inflammatory bowel disease, or for children under 12.
