Specialized Formulations:

Systemic Medications as Topicals: Cyclosporine, a treatment option that generally is used systemically, has shown a degree of effectiveness in topical forms for the treatment of psoriasis, and it also may be prepared according to a doctor's specifications. Tacrolimus, another systemic treatment for psoriasis, has shown OTC Lidocaine Cream - Sambria Pharmaceuticals effectiveness when compounded topically.

Keratolytics (Scale Removers):

  • Salicylic acid - helps remove scales
  • Urea - moisturizes and removes scales

Anti-inflammatory:

  • Dithranol (anthralin) - slows skin cell growth
  • Coal tar - reduces inflammation and scaling
  • Topical corticosteroids (betamethasone, clobetasol)

Vitamin D Analogues:

Immunomodulators:

  • Tacrolimus - for sensitive areas
