Diindolymethane (DIM) 250mg 30 capsules

Diindolylmethane is formed in the body from plant substances contained in “cruciferous” vegetables such as cabbage, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, and broccoli. Scientists think these vegetables may help to protect the body against cancer because they contain diindolylmethane and a related chemical called indole-3-carbinol. Diindolylmethane is used for preventing breast, uterine, and colorectal cancer. It is also used to prevent an enlarged prostate (benign prostatic hypertrophy, BPH) and treat premenstrual syndrome (PMS).

DIM balances the hormones and aids in the breakdown of estrogen. Estrogen is a major culprit to many of the fertility issues women face today including PCOS. Unopposed estrogen has been shown to cause menstrual cycle irregularities and in more advanced cases, endometrial hyperplasia. Removal of excess estrogen is vital to overall hormonal balance in women with PCOS.
 
Diindolylmethane may have effects on estrogen levels in the body. Able to act in both inhibitory and boosting effects, it promotes healthy levels of estrogen in men, fostering an environment of muscle building and fat loss. There are many types of estrogen, and DIM seems to alter the balance to reduce estrogenic effects. The study in “BMC Cancer” reported that different concentrations of DIM may lead to different biological outcomes. Until more is known about the safety of diindolylmethane, children and pregnant or nursing women should not take DIM supplements. If you have liver or kidney disease, or are at a higher risk for estrogen-sensitive cancers or hormone-related conditions, consult your physician before taking DIM.
