Desiccated thyroid extract (DTE), also known as natural desiccated thyroid (NDT), and Armour thyroid thyroid, is a prescription medication made from the desiccated (dried) thyroid glands of animals.
It is compounded by a compounding pharmacist, in accordance with the specifications for strength or quantity, written on the prescription.
