Green tea contains phytocompounds called methylxanthenes which have shown to increase the metabolic activity and thus accelerate weight loss. Green tea is also a vitally important antioxidant and contains two very potent antioxidant chemicals, polyphenols and gallic acid. Both provide substantial protection from free radicals, especially those which damage fatty acids.
