Liquorice has marked anti-inflammatory action, beneficial in arthritis or gastritis, reflux indigestion. Liquorice has a mild laxative effect. It stimulates the adrenal glands, thus its use in chronic fatigue syndrome. Continuous liquorice intake over long period of time may result in higher blood pressure and it is not recommended.
