Guaiacum Lignum Vitae

Specially useful for rheumatoid arthritis, also in chronic rheumatism and gout, relieving the pain and inflammation between the attacks, and lessening their recurrence if doses are continued. It is also a mild laxative and diuretic. Therapeutically, the plant lignum vitae is mainly employed as a tea. To prepare, add one teaspoonful of the dried wood chips in a cup of water and bring to boil. Allow it to simmer for about 15 to 20 minutes. Drink one cup in the morning, at lunch, and after dinner.In addition, a tincture prepared with lignum vitae is used as a friction rub on areas affected by rheumatic arthritis.
