Neem leaf is an essential ingredient in many Ayurveda medicines.
Neem leaves are known to contain strong antifungal, anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory compounds and are often used in topical skin, body care, dental and hair formulations targeting fungal and bacterial infestation of the skin, mouth, and the scalp, for clearing acne and ringworms and toning the skin, getting rid of lice, as well as body odour, to mention a few.
Neem leaf powder is used since ancient times to treat dandruff. The potent antifungal properties of neem powder are beneficial in warding off dandruff. Just mix the powder with a small amount of lemon juice to form a paste and apply on the scalp, then rinse after 20 minutes.
Warning: Using neem tea is not advised for pregnant women, lactating women, couples looking to conceive, children, people taking lithium, those with autoimmune disorders or diabetes, organ transplants, or for someone with surgery scheduled within two weeks. The effects of consuming high doses of neem over a long period of time are not well studied and therefore not recommended. If you are on medications that are prone to interactions, consult your doctor before consuming neem leaf as tea infusion or otherwise.
