Deglycyrrhizinated Licorice (DGL) 400 mg Chewable Tablets 180
Deglycyrrhizinated licorice, or DGL, is made from licorice from which glycyrrhizin, has been removed. Glycyrrhizin is believed to be the main cause for some of the adverse effects of long term licorice intake, such as rise in blood pressure and hormonal imbalance.
The licorice root contains anti-inflammatory compounds and is widely used as a remedy for relief from inflammation, for repair and healing of the mucose linings of the respiratory and gastrointestinal systems, and as an adrenal tonic.
Licorice supports the function of the adrenal glands and is often recommended as a beneficial supplement in Chronic Fatigue Syndrom(CFS) and after long term treatment with steroids, as these drugs tend to suppress the activity of the adrenal glands. For this purpose, Licorice may be combined with other adaptogenic herbs, sich as Panax ginseng and bupleurum and used as adrenal tonic.
Recommended dose: 2 tablets 20 minutes before meals and at bedtime.
