Description: Fluid Extract of the Aerial Parts of Sweet Violet, Viola Odorata, in 25% Ethanol and Purified Water.

Botanical Name: Viola odorata 

Common Names: Sweet Violet, English Violet

Historical Use: Traditionally, sweet violet is used for for treating coughs, chest colds, and congestion,common digestive disorders, postoperative tumormetastasis, diabetes and cancer. Sweet violets contain constituents with expectorant and demulcent action. 
 
Active Constituents:
Recent studies have shown the presence of glycoside of salicylic acid in Sweet Violet leaves, which explains its efficient use in cases of headaches and body pains.
Phytochemically, different groups of compounds have been isolated from various species of this genus like cyclotides, flavonoids, alkaloids and triterpenoids. Some of them already have been scientifically accepted as
antifungal, antibacterial, antioxidant, antiasthmatic, anti-inflammatory, and antipyretic agents.
 

Recommended Dose: 1-2 ml (20-40 drops) three times a day.

Caution: Some individuals may be allergic to heartsease products and should not use this remedy, particularly in the presence of asthma. Do not take if suffering of chronic health conditionson and if on prescription medications without checking with a health professional first. Not recommended to give to children under 12, in pregnancy or lactation.
