Description: This product contains high percentage of Calendula extract from organically grown plants, in a beeswax and lanolin ointment base, suitable for the recovery and protection of dry and damaged skin. Free of parabens, sulphate, silicon, and petroleum.
Use: The most notable traditional use of Calendula is as topical application on wounds, burns, cuts and abrasions and in cosmetic products for its rich antioxidant content with rejuvenating and anti-aging properties.
Benefits: Calendula is considered beneficial in reducing inflammation and promoting wound healing and often used in nappy rash products.
Calendula in creams and ointments is used to aid the healing of minor wounds, cuts, abrasions and external ulcers. There are evidence that Calendula petals contain antimicrobial and other constituents, improving blood flow to the affected area, stimulating the production of collagen at wound sites and minimizings scarring. Scientific studies have shown the calendula is particularly effective for healing wounds, including leg ulcers and other wounds that heal with difficulty.
There are also evidence suggesting that Calendula has specific antifungal, antiviral and other properties. In one small study of about 250 women undergoing radiation therapy after surgery for breast cancer, a commercial calendula ointment reduced the amount of skin irritation better than another commonly-used commercial preparation. Women who used the calendula ointment also reported less pain from the radiation.
Recommended Use: Apply three times a day.
